Last seasons Staffordshire Ladies programme saw players from across the county participate in the top flight county program.
This was a step up for a number of players, as the county program reached the highest standard to date.
One player that made the most of their was Rachael Squires , from Longton RUFC.
Programme manager Becky williams:
” the programme was a great success for the county and allowed us to identify some incredibly talented players within our clubs. Rachael squires had her talent nurtured by Longton RUFC, who did incredibly well in the development League. We identified Rachael as having massive potential last season and knew she was capable of so much more”
This season has seen Rachael move over to Lichfield RUFC, who have two teams in the top 24 of the county.
Not only has Rachael made selection but her hard work has paid off and she moves into the Premiership starting lineup. This weekend sees Lichfield RUFC play at home, their first home Premiership fixture of the season. What’s even better to hear is that it is on a Saturday.
We would encourage all females both senior and junior to get down to Lichfield this Saturday for the 2:30pm KO.
This is a great success story for Staffordshire county and a special thanks has to go to Longton RUFC for their assistance in pushing players to be the best they can be.
