Harry Baxter who plays for our Under 8’s can certainly deliver a lesson in humility – after dedicating his eighth birthday to raising cash for the medics he says saved his life.
The determined youngster was born 10-weeks premature prompting a two-month stay in hospital – where due to his tiny size he could only manage a droplet of milk every hour.
But Harry marked his birthday on 26th February by handing over £900 his family had raised to the Royal Stoke University Hospital’s neonatal department.
For the Baxters, supporting the unit has become an annual tradition over the last fours years – with the recent fund-raising drive bringing their total to £1,800.
Everyone at the club is immensely proud of Harry and his family, none more so than Doug Finney whose daughter Sarah (Sal) is a nurse in the neonatal department.
Check out the picture of him in one of his birthday presents – a Longton Rugby Junior playing top.
